Thiepval Memorial to the Missing

The Somme battlefield tour

Visit the battlefields of the 1916 and 1918 battles of the Somme. Tours can be tailored to your specific wishes, from specific nationalities to specific interests.

Up until today, the 1916 Battle of the Somme is known as the bloodiest battle in British military history. On 1st July, 1916, the British troops suffered over 57,000 casualties, of which nearly 20,000 killed in action. The area still shows the typical landscape features of the war: rolling hills and an open countyside with some small villages dotted all over the place. The unbelievable story of the 1916 battle marked one of the key battles in the Great War, while the 1918 battle was the beginning of the Final 100 Days Offensive by the Allies.
